Editing Process- Luke Lip Syncing #2

Again, I was very pleased with Lukes performance, and felt as if this shoot was far more promising than the last shoot with Louis. The editing process was simple, as like before with Louis, because from where I had cut oit the previous lip-syncing, it was easy to just slot in the new parts with Luke. My teacher then reviewed the footage and gave me feedback.

Filming- Lip Syncing Luke #2

Today I managed to finally meet up with original actor, Luke Blewett. We decided to meet at my house where we went to my bedroom and prepared the set in front of my chalkboard wall. The black wall behind him was a nice contrast to the other scenes in the music video of light, bright nature. I also decided to drape fair lights over Luke to crate a glowing affect from him. This would create an angelic feel and positively add to the mise en scene. We shot him in 3 different angles, front and both sides. We also shot him with and without the fairy lights. On the shoot without the fairy lights, we added some drawings around him on the blackboard. When reviewing the footage i decided i preferred the plain background and the fairy lights.

Plans for New Filming and Developments

For my new lip syncing of Luke, I will be very cautious of my surroundings and make sure nothing is left in the background. After using a white wall in my last video, I have realised it is too boring and isn't a big enough contrast with the nature shots of Caitlin. I have decided to use a black wall. I have a chalkboard wall in my bedroom that could be used to our advantage. I think it could look highly aesthetic to draw round Luke in front of the chalk board

My other idea, is to use fairy lights to create an angelic glow from around Luke. I will aim to do both ideas, and then choose which ever looks better for my final piece.

Editing Process- Louis Gibbons Lip Syncing

After reviewing my footage of Louis Gibbons lip syncing, i was very pleased, although it was not what i had originally envisioned. Again the editing process was simple, because from where i had cut oit the previous lip-syncing, it was easy to just slot in the new parts with Louis. After completing the new video, I asked my class for a review. They were generally happy with the finish product, however, not everyone enjoyed Louis playing the main roll. It was commented that he did not match the mise en scene and that it looked rushed. He was lacking in star image. Due to this, I decided not to rush again, and wait for Luke to come to London again, and re-shoot him.

Filming- Lip Syncing Louis Gibbons

On Saturday 22nd November, I met up with my back up lip singer, Louis Gibbons. We managed to set up a very light and bright set in my house of a white wall with some corner lighting involved. The rise en scene made Louis look incredible angelic and light. We managed to complete the recordings in just over 2 hours, and shot from 3 different angles. The shoot was a success, although Louis was not as confident in front of the camera as previous actor, Luke Blewett. On Monday 24th November, I edited Louis' parts into the music video and asked my class for feedback, everyone was very pleased with my overall video, however a large majority said that the artist miss en scene seemed rushed and as if it was added last minuet. They also stated that the artists star image did not match the music. I took this information on board and decided to re-film my artist lip syncing again, but this time with previous artist, Luke Blewett, due to everyone preferring him.

Plans For New Filming and Developments

In regards to my new lip singing, I want my mise en scene to be relatively simple in comparison to the nature shots and shots of Caitlin. I have spoken to my Media teacher and he suggested to use a plain white background. I will aim to use a white wall in my living room, and keep the set as clean as possible. I think the use of a plain background will work well with Louis Gibbons, as he has very bright ginger hair. I think this will bring out that element of him, and look highly aesthetic.
